Rusty Patch Farm
Last Updated December 02, 2019
Why We Love It: Rusty Patch Farm is a microfarm located in West Boise, run by a grandmother-granddaughter duo. Courtnie, the 25-year-old grandchild, was inspired to turn her family garden into an agricultural venture after finishing her college degree at Boise State. Her passion for bees is primary in her farming ways, as she uses zero chemicals and often sends the broccoli to seed for the flowers it brings the pollinators. Ellen, the 81-year-old matriarch of the farm, grew up a ranch hand and has gardened since she was a child in Nevada. Together, old and new worlds combine as the duo sells baskets of fresh-grown vegetables and herbs, specializing in heirloom tomatos.
